Specimen Requirements
Preferred:
Yellow top (ACD) solution A or B tube Please draw 2 tubes.
Mininum Volume:
7 ml ACD (solution A or B) whole blood
Storage/Transport Temperature
Collect specimen in a yellow top (ACD) tube. Send specimen at ambient temperature via overnight delivery.* send via overnight delivery Monday-Thursday. Samples are accepted and run Monday through Friday. The laboratory is closed Saturday and Sunday. When sending samples, please include patient history, PT, PTT, CBC and any coagulation results or profiles if possible. *Do not refrigerate or freeze sample
Lab Handling
This test can be drawn at any one of our collection sites and is handled as a STAT.
If the specimen is collected at an offsite, call the Main Lab for a STAT courier pick up.
Once specimen is received in the Main Lab a processor will verify all the paperwork is included with the specimen and is complete. A STAT pick up will be called and specimen will be delivered via courier to UTMC.

Electron Microscopy Requistion Form for Reference Laboratory Testing --Processor to fill out
Bleeding History/Disorder Data Sheet -- Ordering provider to fill out
