Patient to have the meal or food challenge.
Collect blood at the following intervals:

Specimen Requirements

Preferred:
Container/Tube: Mint Green Top (Lithium Heparin Gel) & Lavender EDTA Tube for Initial testing. Same 2 tubes for 2 hour testing
Minimum Volume: 1.0 mL Serum and 1 mL EDTA Whole Blood
Collection Instructions: The patient will have the initial, fasting, Glucose and Insulin bloodwork collected then have a meal. Then the patient will be drawn 2 hours later for the second glucose and insulin.

Specimen Stability

Ambient: 8 hours
Refrigerate: 48 hours
Frozen: aliquot for longer storage
