When ready to transfuse, order Product Pickup Request and call transport for pickup from the Blood Bank

Specimen Requirements

No specimen needed if ABO/Rh is on file.

An order for ABO/Rh will reflex if no blood type is on file.

Turn Around Time

Platelets need to be ordered from Toledo American Red Cross. It may take up to 2 hours for platelets to arrive.

Specimen Stability

Store at room temperature on a platelet rocker.
